Our Pastor

Life is crazy, isn’t it? Whether it’s stress at work, struggles at home, or just the shock of the latest headline, life can leave us feeling pretty unsettled at times.

That’s why I’m excited to be the pastor of Salem Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. The word “Salem” comes from a Hebrew word that means “peace.” Through his gracious Word, Jesus calms our anxious hearts with his peace. And the peace of Jesus goes way beyond reducing stress levels and heart rates. Jesus’ peace settles all the way down into the deepest parts of our souls. It calms us with the certain knowledge that God loves us no matter who we are, forgives us no matter what we’ve done, and keeps us in his care no matter what may come our way. It is my distinct privilege to share that peace of Jesus with the people of this community.

The people of Salem and I are a group of ordinary people from different walks of life who rejoice in this peace from our extraordinary Savior. In each other, we have also found the joy of belonging to a Christian family, where we can encourage each other and find true purpose for our lives. Please know that there is a place for you here, no matter where you are at this point in your life. We look forward to meeting you and to the possibility of celebrating the peace of Jesus together. You are always welcome!
