Meet the Pastor

Hello! I'm glad to meet you. Here's a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Onalaska, WI, right on the Mississippi River. I have been blessed with wonderful parents, younger brother, and older sister.

St. Paul's in Onalaska served as our church and school. Then it was on to Luther High School, just a block away. It was a good life and a great childhood. Then tragedy struck.

In 1995, I was diagnosed with bone cancer. After a year off from school and through 2 ½ years of struggle, I overcame the cancer with the help of the Lord. It was part way through that struggle that I chose to study for the ministry.

In 2001, God blessed me with my wonderful wife Ruth. We have not been blessed with children as of yet, but love each other deeply.

I graduated from Martin Luther College in 2002 and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2006. I was called to serve Holy Scripture in Fort Wayne, IN. God blessed my ministry there.

In 2014, I accepted the call to be the pastor at St. Michael's in Fountain City, WI. I served there until 2019 when I accepted the call to serve here at Salem Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, MI.

I love to study and work with the Biblical languages, Greek and Hebrew. In my free time, I like to tinker with computers and gadgets, and hike trails with Ruth and our dogs Cyrus and Pepper. Music has always been a love in my life, whether singing in choirs or playing percussion or piano. People say they like my preaching and teaching, and I love to lead in them. I can't wait to share my love of God with you.

"Always keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock in which the Holy Spirit has placed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood." - Acts 20:28
